Job Overview – Real Estate Controller:
Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Real Estate Controller for our client in New York, NY. In this leadership role, you will manage financial operations for a diverse real estate portfolio, including reporting, tax compliance, treasury, audits, and lease administration. You will partner with the COO and family office on key projects and process improvements. Ideal candidates bring real estate accounting experience, advanced financial modeling skills, and proficiency in Yardi, MRI, or Argus.
Responsibilities as the Real Estate Controller:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Lead financial analysis, budgeting, modeling, quarterly loan reporting, audits, and tax compliance for corporate and partnership entities.
- Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee daily treasury functions, cash activity, and investment of excess cash.
- Capital Projects & Fixed Assets: Manage capital project trackers, fixed asset reviews, classifications, depreciation, and write-offs.
- Lease & Tenant Administration: Oversee tenant billing, lease compliance, insurance tracking, and recoveries, with expertise in Yardi or MRI systems.
- Operations & Risk Management: Manage AP/AR, payroll, HR, benefits, and coordinate property and liability insurance renewals.
- Family Office & Projects: Collaborate with family office controller on tax compliance, investments, and reporting, while supporting asset management and special projects with the COO.
Qualifications for the Real Estate Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 7-10 years of experience in real estate accounting, with exposure to office, multifamily, and development projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Yardi or MRI (Argus experience preferred), with strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities.
- Skills & Attributes: Self-starter with a passion for real estate, entrepreneurial mindset, strong work ethic, and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
