Atlantic Group is hiring a Grant Accountant in New York, NY for our client, supporting grant accounting, budgeting, invoicing, and financial reporting. This role will manage grant-related financial activity, monitor budgets and expenses, and partner with internal teams to maintain accurate records and support compliance with funding requirements.

Responsibilities as the Grant Accountant:

  • Grant Accounting: Manage accounting and financial activity across a portfolio of government-funded grants and program budgets.
  • Grant Invoicing: Prepare and submit invoices to government agencies while maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
  • Budget Management: Monitor grant budgets, spending, and funding activity to identify variances and support effective financial management.
  • Financial Planning: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, grant tracking, and ongoing financial analysis across assigned programs.
  • Program Partnership: Collaborate with program teams to review spending activity, address budget questions, and support funding requirements.
  • Funder Coordination: Communicate with government agencies and other funding partners to resolve invoicing, budget, and grant-related matters.

Qualifications for the Grant Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 1+ years of grant accounting, nonprofit accounting, grant billing, or related financial experience within a New York City social services or nonprofit organization is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience working with New York City government funding sources and grant requirements is required.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with government grant invoicing, budgeting, financial tracking, and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
