Job Overview – Accounting Manager (Nonprofit)
Compensation: $120,000–$130,000/year

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager (Nonprofit) in New York, NY for our client, supporting general ledger accounting, financial reporting, contribution accounting, month-end close, and audit activities within an established nonprofit organization. This hands-on role will manage core accounting processes, ensure accurate reporting of restricted and unrestricted contributions, strengthen internal controls, and support ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience with significant nonprofit accounting expertise and direct experience with individual donations, contributions, and donor-restricted funds.
Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager (Nonprofit):
- General Ledger Accounting: Manage journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities supporting an accurate and timely close.
- Financial Reporting: Support monthly financial reporting, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and related accounting schedules.
- Revenue Accounting: Support accounting and reconciliations for organizational revenue while ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Nonprofit Accounting: Maintain accounting activity in accordance with applicable nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Audit & Controls: Support annual audits and regulatory reporting while maintaining documentation and strengthening internal controls.
- Process & Team Support: Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes while providing oversight and support to accounting staff and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager (Nonprofit):
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in nonprofit accounting, is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with individual donations, contributions, and nonprofit financial reporting is required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting system proficiency, with experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close, is required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and attention to detail skills are required.
