Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager in New York, NY for our client, leading corporate accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, and general ledger activities within a growing organization. This newly created role will own the accuracy of the P&L and balance sheet, oversee a small accounting team, manage intercompany accounting, and support process improvements and internal controls. The ideal candidate has hands-on corporate accounting experience within a non-financial services environment and a strong background in U.S. GAAP, financial analysis, and accounting operations.

Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager:

  • Financial Close: Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement review.
  • Financial Reporting: Maintain ownership of P&L and balance sheet accuracy while performing variance analysis and reviewing key financial accounts.
  • Intercompany Accounting: Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, issue resolution, and settlement coordination across multiple entities.
  • Accounting Leadership: Supervise and develop accounting staff while reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and maintaining hands-on involvement in daily accounting activities.
  • Audit & Controls: Support external audits, maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and accounting policies, and strengthen internal controls and documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Partner across finance and operational functions to improve accounting workflows, automate processes, and enhance reporting efficiency.

Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including month-end close ownership and accounting team supervision, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Corporate accounting experience within a non-financial services organization is required, with advertising, media, marketing, or professional services experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong ERP experience are required, with NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement analysis, intercompany accounting, leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple deadlines is required.
