Job Overview – SVP, Controller
Compensation: $175,000–$220,000/year + bonus
Location: Camden County, NJ
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring an SVP, Controller in Camden County, NJ for our client, leading accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and team management within a real estate organization. This senior leadership role will oversee complex accounting activities, strengthen financial processes, and collaborate with operational and executive teams to support business performance and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a CPA with extensive real estate accounting experience, proven leadership capabilities, and a strong background in financial reporting and process improvement.

Responsibilities as the SVP, Controller:

  • Accounting Leadership: Lead accounting operations, oversee accounting professionals, and establish priorities that support accurate and timely financial processes.
  • Real Estate Accounting: Oversee development accounting, project costs, budgets, and other financial activities across real estate projects.
  • Financial Reporting: Direct financial reporting, variance analysis, audit activities, and internal control processes.
  • Financial Oversight: Review project financials, funding activities, and financial analyses to support business and investment decisions.
  • Controls & Compliance: Ensure accounting activities and financial reporting align with applicable requirements, policies, and internal controls.
  • Process Improvement: Lead improvements to accounting systems, workflows, controls, and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications for the SVP, Controller:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Certification: CPA designation is required.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong real estate accounting and development experience is required, with knowledge of complex financing structures preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems proficiency are required, with process improvement and automation experience preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration abilities are required.
