Job Overview – Fund Accounting Manager
Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Accounting Manager in Boston, MA for our client, supporting private equity fund accounting, financial reporting, capital activity, and fund operations. This role will oversee accounting processes for investment funds and related vehicles while partnering with fund administrators, auditors, and internal teams. The ideal candidate brings strong private equity or alternative investment accounting experience with the ability to manage complex workflows and improve financial processes.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accounting Manager:
- Fund Accounting: Oversee accounting for investment funds and related vehicles, including general ledger activity, quarterly closes, reconciliations, and capital accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements, supporting schedules, and other fund reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Capital Activity: Manage capital calls, distributions, reserves, investment transactions, and related investor reporting processes.
- Administrator Oversight: Coordinate with third-party fund administrators to ensure accurate accounting, timely deliverables, and resolution of reporting issues.
- Audit & Compliance: Manage annual audit requirements while supporting tax reporting, regulatory documentation, partnership agreement compliance, and internal controls.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve fund accounting workflows through financial systems, automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications for the Fund Accounting Manager:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Certification: CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 6+ years of fund accounting, partnership accounting, public accounting, or related financial services experience is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Private equity or venture capital experience is strongly preferred, with relevant real estate or private credit fund experience also considered.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and strong fund accounting and financial reporting systems skills are required, with experience using automation, data analytics, or AI-enabled tools preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong project management, analytical, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across investment, finance, tax, and legal teams.
