Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Fund Accountant in New York, NY for our client, supporting the accounting and financial reporting of private investment funds within a leading global investment management firm. This role offers broad exposure to fund accounting, financial reporting, investor activity, portfolio valuations, and cross-functional collaboration with investment professionals and senior leadership. The ideal candidate is a CPA with public accounting experience who is looking to transition into private equity or alternative asset management.

Responsibilities as the Senior Fund Accountant:

  • Fund Accounting: Prepare fund financial statements, capital calls, distributions, and other fund accounting activities for assigned investment funds.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare management reports, investor reporting, financial analyses, and other periodic reporting to support fund operations.
  • Fund Operations: Perform account reconciliations, maintain fund records, process investment activity, and support the day-to-day accounting and operational needs of investment funds.
  • Audit & Compliance: Support portfolio valuation processes, coordinate with external auditors, and assist with annual audits and financial reporting requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, investment professionals, fund administrators, and other internal teams to support fund operations and ongoing initiatives.

Qualifications for the Senior Fund Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Certification: Active CPA designation is required.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of public accounting experience is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience auditing or supporting alternative investment clients, including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, or similar investment funds, is preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting is required.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with fund accounting systems or financial reporting software is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
