Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Private Equity)
Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Accountant (Private Equity) in New York, NY for our client, supporting fund accounting, financial reporting, investor reporting, and finance operations within a private investment firm. This highly visible role offers broad exposure across fund accounting, management company accounting, portfolio reporting, and operational finance while working closely with senior leadership. The ideal candidate has experience in private equity, fund administration, or public accounting and is looking to expand their responsibilities in a collaborative investment environment.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Fund Accounting: Maintain general ledger activity, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial records for investment funds and the management company.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, investor reports, capital account statements, and supporting financial schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Capital Activity: Process capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, and investor allocations while ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate annual audits, prepare supporting schedules, and assist with tax workpapers while partnering with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Portfolio & Operational Finance: Support portfolio company reporting, expense monitoring, new investment onboarding, and finance initiatives across the investment platform.
- Process Improvement: Enhance accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and assist with technology and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications for the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certification: CPA is required.
- Experience: 3–5 years of fund accounting, fund administration, public accounting, or private equity accounting experience is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting private equity, alternative investments, investment funds, or other private capital structures is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required, and experience with accounting systems, fund reporting platforms, or ERP software is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and thrive in a hands-on investment environment.
