Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant (Insurance) in Philadelphia, PA for our client, supporting financial reporting, general accounting, and month-end close within a multi-entity insurance organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing account reconciliations, supporting statutory and U.S. GAAP reporting, and partnering with finance leadership on accounting operations. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, experience in a multi-entity environment, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant (Insurance):

  • General Accounting: Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger activity, and support month-end and year-end close for multiple legal entities.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare account reconciliations, analyze financial results, and assist with U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reporting requirements.
  • Account Analysis: Perform variance analysis, reconcile bank accounts, and maintain accounting for fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Operational Support: Assist with accounts receivable, cash application, billing activities, and ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operational teams to strengthen internal controls, resolve accounting issues, and support business initiatives.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant (Insurance):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Certification: CPA or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of accounting experience in public accounting, insurance, or a multi-entity corporate environment is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with U.S. GAAP is required, and exposure to insurance accounting or statutory reporting is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office is required, and experience with ERP or general ledger systems is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, improve processes, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
