Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Private Equity)
Compensation: $65,000 – $95,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Accountant (Private Equity) in Boston, MA for our client, supporting fund accounting, partnership accounting, and fund operations across private equity investment vehicles. This role will work closely with investment, finance, and operations teams while assisting with fund reporting, capital activity, and third-party service provider oversight. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, private equity fund experience, and an interest in building a career within alternative investments.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Fund Accounting: Support accounting and financial reporting activities for private equity funds, including NAV oversight, partnership accounting, and investment transaction processing.
- Capital Activity: Assist with capital calls, distributions, carried interest calculations, management fee allocations, and related fund operations.
- Service Provider Coordination: Partner with fund administrators, custodians, banks, and other third-party providers to ensure timely and accurate fund operations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review investor reporting, reconciliations, fund documentation, and financial information supporting ongoing operations.
- Process Improvement: Participate in automation initiatives, system enhancements, and workflow improvements that strengthen operational efficiency and controls.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with investment professionals, finance teams, and operational stakeholders to support strategic projects and day-to-day fund activities.
Qualifications for the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, CPA, CFA, CAIA, or related professional designation is preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, fund administration, or alternative investment accounting is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with private equity funds, partnership accounting, capital calls, distributions, and closed-end fund structures is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills are required, and experience with financial systems, automation tools, AI technologies, or Power BI is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, technical accounting, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment are required.
