Job Overview – Controller (Manufacturing)
Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000/year
Location: Worcester County, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller (Manufacturing) in Worcester County, MA for our client, supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, and financial leadership within a manufacturing environment. This highly visible role will serve as a key partner to finance leadership while overseeing accounting functions, strengthening internal controls, and driving process improvements across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach to managing financial operations.
Responsibilities as the Controller:
- Accounting Leadership: Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and month-end close functions.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and corporate reporting requirements.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Manufacturing Accounting: Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing finance activities while supporting operational performance and financial accuracy.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate external audits, maintain internal controls, and ensure compliance with financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Process Improvement: Drive operational efficiencies, strengthen accounting procedures, and implement process enhancements that support business growth.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or controllership experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory management, financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and internal controls is required.
- Technical Skills: Experience with SAP, Oracle, or a comparable ERP system is required. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage teams, drive process improvements, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment are required.
