Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant in Queens, NY for our client, supporting corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities within a growing technology and services organization. This role will assist with general ledger accounting, job costing, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives while partnering closely with finance and operational teams. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced within corporate accounting and project-based accounting environments.

Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant:

  • General Ledger Accounting: Manage journal entries, reconciliations, account analyses, and month-end close activities for assigned business areas.
  • Project Accounting & Reporting: Support project accounting activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Investigate financial variances, perform fluctuation analyses, and support balance sheet and P&L reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, improve reporting processes, and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Accounting & Compliance Support: Assist with reconciliations, financial reporting support, and accounting documentation initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with accounting, finance, and operational teams to support reporting accuracy and process execution.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, CPA designation or advanced accounting degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience within corporate accounting, public accounting, or related financial environments is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, month-end close processes, and financial reporting is required. Experience with project-based accounting environments is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems and accounting software are preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, attention to detail, process improvement capabilities, and the ability to work independently are required.
