Job Overview – Revenue Recognition Accountant
Compensation: $95,000 – $105,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA 
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Revenue Recognition Accountant in Boston, MA for our client, supporting revenue accounting, contract review, and financial reporting within a complex, multi-entity environment. This role focuses on ASC 606 compliance, month-end close, and general ledger activity related to revenue while ensuring accurate allocation and recognition across contracts. The Revenue Recognition Accountant will utilize SAP or similar ERP systems and advanced Excel to manage revenue processes, reconciliations, and reporting.

Responsibilities as the Revenue Recognition Accountant:

  • Revenue Recognition: Analyze customer contracts and apply ASC 606 guidance to ensure accurate revenue accounting.
  • Month-End Close: Perform revenue-related close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Contract Review: Evaluate contract terms to determine appropriate accounting treatment and revenue allocation.
  • SOX Compliance & Audit Support: Maintain SOX controls and support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance and operational teams to resolve revenue-related discrepancies and improve processes.

Qualifications for the Revenue Recognition Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in revenue accounting or general accounting within a public or corporate environment is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms is required.
  • Certification: CPA or progress toward certification is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
