Job Overview – Assistant Fund Controller
Compensation: $150,000 – $225,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Fund Controller in New York, NY for our client, supporting fund accounting, financial reporting, and investor operations within a private equity or alternative asset management environment. In this role, you will oversee fund accounting, capital activity, and financial reporting while coordinating with third-party providers and internal teams. You will leverage Excel and reporting tools to ensure accuracy across NAV and investor reporting while improving processes and efficiency.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Fund Controller:
- Fund Accounting Oversight: Manage day-to-day accounting and operations across funds and investment vehicles.
- Capital Activity Management: Oversee capital calls and distributions while ensuring accurate tracking and allocations.
- Financial Reporting & Review: Review quarterly financial statements and investor reporting prepared by third parties.
- Audit & Tax Coordination: Support annual audits and partner with tax providers on fund-level reporting and compliance.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration: Identify process improvements and partner with internal teams to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
Qualifications for the Assistant Fund Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 5–15 years of fund accounting experience is required, with a strong preference for private equity or alternative asset management environments.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of private equity fund structures, capital allocations, NAV calculations, and investor reporting is required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel is required, and experience with fund accounting systems such as Investran, Geneva, or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating across teams and driving process improvements.
