Job Overview – Senior Accountant (Project Accounting)
Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000/year + bonus
Location: Montgomery County, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Accountant (Project Accounting) in Montgomery County, PA for our client. In this role, you will support project accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and revenue recognition within a project-based services environment. You will manage general ledger activity, reconciliations, and project reporting while partnering with operations and project managers to improve financial accuracy, reporting visibility, and overall process efficiency through Deltek Vantagepoint and advanced Excel.
Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant (Project Accounting):
- General Ledger & Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reclasses while supporting month-end close and financial accuracy.
- Reconciliations & Reporting: Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Project Accounting Support: Manage project setup, maintenance, and closeout activities within the ERP system.
- Cost, Billing & Revenue Review: Review project costs, labor, billing, revenue recognition, WIP, deferred revenue, and project margins.
- Analysis & Process Improvement: Partner with operations on project financial issues while supporting reporting, system improvements, and accounting process efficiency.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant (Project Accounting):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience is required, with project accounting, job costing, or contract-based accounting experience preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Background within a project-based or professional services environment and exposure to revenue recognition are preferred.
- Technical Skills: Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, ERP systems, and advanced Excel is required, and Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision experience is strongly preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while partnering effectively with operations and project teams are essential.
