Job Overview – Controller
Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: Essex County, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller in Essex County, MA for our client. In this role, you will lead financial reporting, month-end close, and day-to-day accounting operations while overseeing cash flow, payroll, inventory, AP, AR, and general ledger activity. You will partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and working capital management while leveraging R365 ERP to support reporting accuracy and operational visibility.

Responsibilities as the Controller:

  • Month-End Close & Reporting: Lead the month-end close process and oversee accurate financial and management reporting across the business.
  • Financial Analysis & Planning: Analyze financial results, explain variances, and support budgeting, forecasting, and overall performance tracking.
  • Cash Flow & Accounting Oversight: Oversee cash flow, working capital, and core accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and accruals.
  • Controls & Reconciliations: Maintain strong internal controls and oversee general ledger, bank, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Team Leadership & Process Improvement: Manage the accounting team, support tax compliance, and drive process improvements through the ERP system.

Qualifications for the Controller:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required (CPA preferred).
  • Experience: 5–10 years of accounting or controllership experience is required, including leadership experience within multi-entity or operationally driven business environments.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, inventory accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management is required.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with R365 ERP is required, along with strong Excel skills and experience using accounting systems to support reporting and process improvement.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, process improvement ability, communication skills, and the ability to manage a team and operate in a detail-driven environment are essential.
