Job Overview – Investment Associate (Private Credit)
Compensation: $125,000 – $130,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Investment Associate (Private Credit) in Boston, MA for our client, supporting direct lending, special situations, and capital solutions investments across middle-market borrowers. In this hybrid role, you will conduct credit underwriting, build complex financial models, structure transactions, and prepare Investment Committee materials while evaluating risk-adjusted returns across capital structures and private credit opportunities.
Responsibilities as the Investment Associate (Private Credit):
- Credit Underwriting & Financial Modeling: Conduct detailed company and industry research, build integrated financial models, and perform valuation, scenario, and downside analysis to assess risk-adjusted investment opportunities.
- Transaction Structuring & Execution: Partner with senior investment professionals and legal counsel to structure transaction terms, covenants, and security packages while supporting deal execution through closing.
- Investment Committee Materials: Prepare investment memoranda, underwriting analyses, and recommendation materials for internal review and approval.
- Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Analysis: Track portfolio company performance, update financial models, identify emerging risks, and evaluate add-on or cross-sell opportunities.
- Diligence & Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with management teams, advisors, consultants, and counterparties to support due diligence and ongoing relationship management.
Qualifications for the Investment Associate (Private Credit):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of private credit, direct lending, restructuring, or investment banking experience, with exposure to financial restructuring or credit underwriting preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of capital structures, credit agreements, covenant analysis, and risk assessment across public and private credit markets.
- Technical Skills: Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills required, with strong proficiency in Excel and experience preparing investment memoranda.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical and intellectually curious investment professional with strong communication skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment.
