Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Hedge Fund Accounting & Operations) in New York, NY for our client. This in-office role supports hedge fund accounting and operations across SMAs and a flagship master-feeder structure, including shadow books, expense allocations, trade operations, and reconciliations. You will gain exposure to multi-asset strategies including equities, derivatives, commodities, and FX, making this ideal for an experienced hedge fund accounting professional seeking expanded operational exposure within a fast-paced investment platform.
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller:
- Shadow Accounting & Books and Records: Maintain shadow books across SMAs and master-feeder structures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Fund Accounting & NAV Support: Oversee expense allocations, NAV validation, and coordination with external fund administrators.
- Trade Operations & Allocations: Manage trade allocations, settlements, and reconciliations across multiple asset classes.
- Multi-Asset Reconciliation Oversight: Reconcile activity across equities, swaps, FX, commodities, futures, options, and other derivatives.
- Service Provider & Process Management: Liaise with prime brokers and administrators while supporting workflow improvements and internal controls.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Experience: 6+ years of hedge fund accounting and operations experience within macro, multi-strategy, or equity long/short funds.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of hedge fund structures, including master-feeder funds and separately managed accounts, with exposure to complex derivative instruments.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency required, with experience working with portfolio accounting systems, reconciliation tools, or fund accounting platforms preferred.
- Compliance & Controls: Familiarity with internal control frameworks, financial reporting processes, and coordination with external auditors and administrators preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced investment environment.
