Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring an Assistant Controller (Private Equity) in Bergen County, NJ for our client, supporting private equity fund accounting, financial reporting, and investment operations. This hybrid role focuses on fund accounting, capital activity, valuations, and investor reporting across private equity and co-investment vehicles while partnering with investment, legal, compliance, and investor relations teams and external service providers to support audits, regulatory filings, and process improvements.

Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller (Private Equity):

  • Fund Accounting & Reporting: Oversee daily fund accounting operations and prepare financial statements, investor reporting, and capital account statements in accordance with fund agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Capital Activity & Liquidity: Manage capital calls, distribution notices, cash management, and liquidity forecasting across private equity funds and related entities.
  • Audit & Tax Coordination: Partner with fund administrators, external auditors, and tax advisors to support year-end audits and review tax workpapers and Schedule K-1s.
  • Valuations & Deal Support: Support portfolio investment valuations and collaborate with investment, legal, and investor relations teams on deal closings and investor inquiries.
  • Regulatory & Support: Coordinate regulatory filings and compliance support while handling ad hoc projects and senior management initiatives.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller (Private Equity):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in private equity fund accounting, fund administration, or public and private accounting, with exposure to tax processes.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private equity fund operations, capital activity, valuations, U.S. GAAP reporting, and multi-entity fund structures.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency with strong knowledge of journal entries, financial statements, and fund reporting.
  • Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical professional with strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative, client-facing mindset.
