Job Overview – Private Credit Controller:
Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000/year
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Private Credit Controller in Boston, MA for our client. This hybrid role leads all BDC accounting, reporting, valuation, and regulatory requirements while partnering closely with the CFO. You will oversee the close and NAV process, manage SEC filings, coordinate with valuation and tax teams, and ensure accuracy across internal and administrator systems. This role suits an experienced private credit professional with strong BDC accounting, valuation, and technical skills.
Responsibilities as the Private Credit Controller:
- Fund Accounting Oversight: Lead all daily accounting, administration, and financial reporting for the BDC, partnering closely with the CFO and senior leadership.
- Close, NAV & Regulatory Reporting: Direct the monthly and quarterly close process, produce complete NAV packages, and ensure full compliance with SEC and IRS requirements for BDCs.
- Financial Statements & SEC Filings: Prepare and review 10-Ks, 10-Qs, N-2s, 8-Ks, and other required filings while maintaining accurate books, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Valuation, Performance & Cash Monitoring: Oversee valuation processes, validate portfolio pricing, analyze fund performance metrics, and monitor daily cash and investment activity across entities.
- Leadership: Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Tax, FP&A, and Investor Relations while managing sub-administrators, custodians, transfer agents, and valuation firms to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
Qualifications for the Private Credit Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required (CPA or CFA strongly preferred).
- Experience: 10+ years of private credit or alternative investment accounting experience, including team management, with prior public accounting experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills with expertise in SEC reporting, fund accounting systems, fair value measurement, and required experience with BDCs, registered funds, or CLO accounting.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of private credit structures, loan products, valuation methodologies, and internal controls for alternative investment firms.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, highly organized leader with strong communication skills and the ability to manage priorities in fast-paced environments.
