Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
Compensation: $95,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Accountant (Private Equity) in New York, NY for our client. In this in-office role, you will handle monthly close tasks, investor reporting, cash activity, and general ledger management for private equity funds. You will coordinate with fund administrators and partner with Operations, Investor Relations, Tax, and Compliance to support accurate fund accounting. This role is ideal for accountants looking to build experience within alternative investments.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Monthly Close: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, trial balances, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely fund financial reporting.
- Investor Reporting: Assist with capital account statements, financial statements, and quarterly reporting while coordinating with third-party fund administrators.
- Cash Management: Prepare and process wires for capital calls, distributions, and vendor payments with proper authorization and documentation.
- General Ledger Oversight: Maintain accurate schedules for cash, accrued expenses, debt, payables, and other key general ledger accounts.
- Audit, Tax & Support: Partner with Operations, IR, Tax, Legal, and Compliance while supporting audit and tax requests and contributing to process improvements.
Qualifications for the Fund Accountant (Private Equity):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA strongly preferred).
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or fund accounting, with exposure to private equity or hedge fund clients.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience using NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with partnership accounting, fund waterfall calculations, LPAs, and private equity fund structures, with experience in private credit preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
