Atlantic Group is hiring a Director of Finance (Construction Accounting) in Philadelphia, PA with our client, an established general contractor. In this on-site leadership role, you’ll oversee budgeting, WIP reporting, and financial operations while partnering with the CFO to drive profitability and strategic growth. You’ll manage the accounting team, enhance systems like Acumatica and Procore, and ensure accurate reporting to support business performance.

Responsibilities as the Director of Finance:

  • Financial Oversight: Lead all accounting operations, including AP, AR, job costing, and monthly financial reporting.
  • WIP Management: Oversee monthly Work-in-Progress reporting and analysis, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and margin forecasting.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and cash flow projections while providing strategic financial insights to leadership.
  • Collaboration: Partner with project managers and executives to align budgets, schedules, and performance goals across all active projects.
  • Process & Systems Improvement: Optimize financial systems and reporting accuracy through Acumatica, Procore, and Velixo integration.
  • Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications for the Director of Finance:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of accounting experience in construction finance and WIP management, with a strong background in commercial or institutional projects.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Acumatica, Procore, Velixo, and Excel, with deep knowledge of GAAP, Work-in-Progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven success managing project-based financials, collaborating with field and project teams, and driving profitability through proactive financial oversight.
  • Skills & Attributes: Hands-on finance leader with strong communication skills who collaborates with project and operations teams to ensure accountability.
