Atlantic Group is hiring a Junior Accountant (Real Estate/Property Management) in New York, NY, supporting accounting and financial operations for our client, a leading property management firm. This role provides hands-on experience in accounts payable and receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and property-level accounting, with exposure to Rent Manager, Yardi, and AvidXchange. It is an excellent opportunity for early-career accountants looking to grow their expertise in real estate accounting and property management.

Responsibilities as the Junior Accountant:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices in AvidXchange, manage the Avid inbox, and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Banking & Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and handle tenant security deposit refunds.
  • Payroll Management: Record payroll entries accurately across multiple properties.
  • Utilities & Payments: Manage utility uploads, payments, and daily check deposits.
  • Administrative Support: Distribute mail, maintain office supplies, process annual 1099s, and assist with ad hoc accounting projects.

Qualifications for the Junior Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate or property management.
  • Certification: Notary certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Rent Manager, Yardi, or similar property management software, with preferred experience using AvidXchange.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with real estate accounting practices and tenant-related transactions.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
