Job Overview – Fund Accountant (Real Estate & Private Equity):
Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Support fund operations as a Fund Accountant (Real Estate & Private Equity) with our client in New York, NY (Hybrid), managing accounting and reporting for healthcare and commercial real estate (CRE) investments. Maintain accurate books and records, reconcile fund-level cash activity, and prepare investor reporting across multiple fund structures. Ideal for early-career professionals with experience in public or private fund accounting and exposure to real estate or private equity.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accountant:
- Fund Accounting: Maintain books and records for CRE and healthcare funds, including investor and leverage provider activity.
- Cash Management: Reconcile fund and investment vehicle cash activity and support internal cash flow tracking.
- Investor Reporting: Prepare borrower invoices, recurring investor reports, and income distributions based on waterfall models.
- Financial Statements: Review NAV packages and assist in preparing quarterly financials, including balance sheet and cash flow statements.
- Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate audit requests and assist with investor tax filings such as K-1s and 1042s.
- Team Collaboration: Work with Investor Relations, Asset Management, and Deal Teams to respond to reporting needs and investor inquiries.
Qualifications for the Fund Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 1-3 years in public or private fund accounting, preferably with exposure to real estate, private equity, or hedge funds.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel with a strong understanding of debits, credits, and investment accounting fundamentals, with experience in fund accounting platforms preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
