Job Overview – Senior Tax Accountant:
Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000/year + bonus
Location: Chester, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Our client is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant in Chester, PA, to manage tax compliance, reporting, and preparation for complex trusts and high-net-worth clients. You will oversee trust tax filings (including Form 1041), conduct research on trust and estate tax issues, and collaborate with trust administrators, legal counsel, and partners. Strong expertise in trust taxation, fiduciary returns, estate planning, and proficiency in CCH Axcess Tax and trust accounting platforms is preferred.
Responsibilities as the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review annual trust tax filings (Form 1041), state returns, and other required filings.
- Advanced Tax Filings: Manage tax extensions, estimated payments, and filings related to distributions, gifts, estates, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
- Technical Tax Guidance: Provide expertise on taxable income, deductions, capital gains, and income distribution calculations for trusts and beneficiaries.
- Collaboration & Resolution: Partner with Trust Administrators, Legal Counsel, clients, and external partners to resolve tax matters and ensure compliance.
- Tax Research & Documentation: Conduct technical tax research and prepare supporting memoranda on complex tax issues.
- Improvement & Mentorship: Drive process improvements and provide guidance and training on advanced trust tax topics.
Qualifications for the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of tax experience, with at least 3 years in trust taxation and public accounting.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CCH Axcess Tax, and tax research platforms such as CCH, RIA, and Checkpoint, with experience in trust accounting software (AccuTrust or Cheetah) preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable, with strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax matters and train others.
