Job Overview – Fund Accounting Associate:
Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Take on a key role with our client as a Fund Accounting Associate in New York, NY (Hybrid), managing fund accounting, NAV calculations, and investor reporting for private equity and credit-focused investment partnerships. You will work with third-party administrators, support monthly closes, and maintain capital accounts, general ledger activity, and financial statements. This is an excellent opportunity for public accountants with private funds experience seeking a hands-on fund accounting role.
Responsibilities as the Fund Accounting Associate:
- Partnership Accounting & NAV: Coordinate daily investment activity, assist with month-end closes, and support NAV calculations across investment partnerships.
- General Ledger & Reconciliation: Process accounting entries, maintain partner capital accounts, and prepare reconciliations for cash, investments, and derivatives.
- Reporting & Allocations: Prepare income allocations, capital drawdowns, distributions, and investor statements, and contribute to monthly reporting packages.
- Investment Documentation & Analysis: Compile and review investment purchase documents, perform balance sheet and income statement analysis, and ensure accurate record keeping.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Assist with year-end audits, prepare financial schedules and confirmations, and support compliance reporting.
Qualifications for the Fund Accounting Associate:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 3-6 years of public accounting or fund accounting experience with private equity, credit, real estate private equity, or hedge fund clients, preferably with a Big 4 or national firm.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Oracle or similar general ledger systems.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with excellent communication abilities, and the organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
