Job Overview – Senior Fund Accountant (Real Estate):
Take on a key role with our client as a Senior Fund Accountant (Real Estate) in New York, NY. This in-office position offers the opportunity to manage accounting functions for a real estate fund platform, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory requirements. You will play a crucial role in fund-level cash reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and investor reporting, contributing to the firm’s continued success in real estate investments.

Compensation: $100,000 – $130,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Responsibilities as the Senior Fund Accountant:

  • Fund Accounting & Reporting: Maintain fund books, track investment activities, and oversee third-party investor records.
  • Cash Management & Reconciliation: Handle daily fund-level cash reconciliations and monitor cash movements across investment vehicles.
  • Financial Statements & Reporting: Prepare and review quarterly financial statements, including Balance Sheets and Income Statements.
  • Investor & Borrower Relations: Respond to investor requests, manage borrower inquiries, and generate recurring investor reports.
  • Audit & Tax Compliance: Support audit processes, review tax returns, and coordinate investor tax filings (K-1s, 1042s).
  • Distributions & Fund Structuring: Execute capital flows, analyze income distributions, and ensure accurate waterfall calculations.

Qualifications for the Senior Fund Accountant:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Experience: 2-6 years in public accounting, a public/private hybrid, or direct private accounting within real estate, private equity, or hedge funds.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and fund reconciliations, with experience in Yardi, Investran, or similar software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of real estate fund structures, investor reporting, and distribution waterfalls.
  • Skills & Attributes: Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
