Job Overview – Director of Valuation and Risk (Private Markets):
Take on a leadership role with our client as the Director of Valuation and Risk in New York, NY. In this hybrid position, you will oversee the valuation responsibilities for alternative and illiquid investments, including private credit, private equity, and hedge funds. Collaborating with global teams, you will ensure accurate valuation processes, provide insights to stakeholders, and contribute to the firm’s strategic initiatives in the private markets space.
Compensation: $160,000 – $190,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Director of Valuation and Risk:
- Valuation Oversight: Lead the quarterly and daily valuation process for a portfolio of private credit and private equity investments.
- Reporting and Insights: Deliver valuation reports and insights to the valuation committee and portfolio management teams.
- Financial Modeling: Design and manage financial models, including discounted cash flow, daily pricing, market multiple, and market transaction analyses.
- Investment Analysis: Perform valuation analysis across a diverse range of illiquid investments spanning industries and geographies.
- Industry Engagement: Attend industry events to enhance expertise and stay informed about trends in alternative asset valuation.
- Client Relationship Management: Maintain communication and relationship management with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and trust.
Qualifications for the Director of Valuation and Risk:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 7+ years in alternative asset valuation, with additional expertise in leading international teams and interval fund valuation.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of private credit and private equity valuation methodologies and applications.
- Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, critical thinking, leadership, and strategic initiative management with a commitment to excellence.
