Job Overview – Legal Services Controller (Remote):
Step into a leadership role with our client as a Legal Services Controller supporting a remote East Coast operation. This position oversees all accounting operations, drives financial integrity, and supports strategic planning initiatives. As a key leader, you’ll collaborate with the CFO and executive team to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and mentor a high-performing accounting team, contributing to the company’s growth and success.
Compensation: $170,000 – $200,000/year + bonus
Location: Remote Role (East Coast)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Responsibilities as the Legal Services Controller:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing variance analysis and actionable insights.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and revenue recognition, ensuring adherence to GAAP.
- Budgeting & Cost Management: Oversee budget preparation, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities to control costs and improve efficiency.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop and maintain effective internal controls, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Process Optimization: Identify improvement areas and implement financial systems and tools to enhance data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor an accounting team, fostering professional development, setting performance objectives, and supporting team growth.
Qualifications for the Legal Services Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA or CMA designation preferred).
- Experience: 7-15 years of Progressive Accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Leadership role (experience in legal or professional services is a plus).
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance; proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities with a proven track record in team management and development.
- Attributes: Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
