Job Overview – Assistant Controller (Management Company):
Step into a leadership role with our client as the Assistant Controller (Management Company) in New York, NY, overseeing accounting functions and streamlining financial operations. Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to manage expense allocations and drive innovation for hedge and private equity funds.
Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Assistant Controller (Management Company):
- Process Optimization: Drive efficiencies across subledgers by redesigning processes, integrating new systems, and leveraging existing financial technologies.
- Expense Management: Oversee the expense allocation and reimbursement process for 10+ funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across direct and indirect expenses.
- Billing Oversight: Manage quarterly billing processes for portfolio companies, affiliate entities, and SMAs.
- Team Management: Lead onshore and offshore accounting teams to execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Tax Support: Partner with internal tax teams to address inquiries and meet reporting requirements.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing quarterly consolidation entries, including non-controlling interests (NCI) and equity pick-up.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller (Management Company):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 8-10 years in Big 4/public and private accounting within hedge or private equity management.
- Certification: CPA strongly preferred.
- Technology: Experience with Workday and other financial technologies is a plus.
- Skills: Strong project management, problem-solving, and attention to detail, with a focus on process automation and efficiency.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams across multiple locations effectively.
