Job Overview – Junior Traffic Coordinator (Dry-Bulk Materials):
Our client is seeking a lightly experienced person to join their busy physical commodities trading desk in New York City. This is essential for ensuring smooth commodity operations, with a focus on managing stakeholder needs while upholding strict operational compliance in a dynamic environment.
Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: 3 days in-office / 2 days WFH (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Junior Traffic Coordinator:
- Trade Execution: Coordinate customer deliveries, adhering to industry best practices for smooth physical trade operations.
- Account Oversight: Manage regional markets, track inventory, and meet customer requirements with accuracy.
- Financial Coordination: Coordinate Letters of Credit process and ensure timely vendor payments.
- Tracking: Monitor ocean vessels, analyze laytime against charterparty terms, and handle transportation rate negotiations.
Qualifications for the Junior Traffic Coordinator:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Finance and/or Supply Chain related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in Commodities, Transportation/Logistics or similar; ideally managing dry-bulk related cargos (i.e. agricultural products, metals/minerals, etc..).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Skills: Strong communication skills, negotiation abilities, high attention to detail and ability to prioritize complex aspects of shipments.
