Job Overview – Traveling Construction Superintendent:
Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000/year + bonus
Location: Des Moines, IA (National Travel Required)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Frequent Travel to Project Sites)
Join our client as a Traveling Construction Superintendent based in Des Moines, Iowa, overseeing ground-up multifamily projects across the U.S., starting with a major stick-built development in the area. This field-based leadership role is ideal for a superintendent experienced in managing subcontractors, ensuring jobsite safety, and delivering high-quality, on-time construction outcomes while traveling to sites nationwide.
Responsibilities as the Traveling Construction Superintendent:
- Project Oversight: Lead day-to-day on-site operations for ground-up multi-family construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Site Supervision: Manage subcontractors, enforce safety protocols, and conduct regular site inspections across national project locations.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to align execution with design intent and contractual obligations.
- Schedule & Budget Control: Monitor progress against project schedules, mitigate delays, and track material deliveries and cost controls.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with local codes, company standards, and client specifications across all phases of construction.
- National Travel: Travel to job sites across the U.S., beginning with the first major project based in Des Moines, Iowa.
Qualifications for the Traveling Construction Superintendent:
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience supervising large-scale ground-up construction projects, particularly in multi-family, stick frame, or wood-frame structures.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and the ability to read blueprints and site plans.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, problem-solving approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities on-site.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel nationally on a consistent basis.
