Job Overview – Transactional Credit Counsel
Compensation: $250,000–$300,000/year + bonus
Location: Stamford, CT
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Transactional Credit Counsel in Stamford, CT for our client, a growing alternative investment manager. This role will support a broad range of private credit and structured finance transactions, partnering closely with investment professionals and outside counsel on deal execution, documentation, and negotiation. The ideal candidate is a transactional attorney with experience across leveraged lending, structured credit, asset-backed securities, CLOs, secured transactions, restructuring, derivatives, or related credit strategies.
Responsibilities as the Transactional Credit Counsel:
- Transaction Execution: Review, draft, and negotiate legal documentation for credit, financing, and other investment transactions.
- Deal Negotiation: Advise investment professionals on legal and commercial terms while identifying risks and supporting transaction execution.
- Legal Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel throughout transaction structuring, negotiation, documentation, and closing.
- Credit Transactions: Provide legal support across lending, structured finance, securities, and other complex financial transactions.
- Investment Support: Assist with legal matters related to investment activities, funds, and other business initiatives as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve legal workflows, transaction documentation, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications for the Transactional Credit Counsel:
- Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Experience: 2–5 years of transactional legal experience within a law firm, financial services, investment management, or related environment is required.
- Transactional Expertise: Experience supporting lending, credit, financing, securities, or other complex financial transactions is required.
- Legal Skills: Strong contract drafting, review, negotiation, transaction management, and legal analysis skills are required.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of private credit, structured finance, investment management, or alternative investments is preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong judgment, communication, organization, and attention to detail are required, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
