Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring a Real Estate Counsel (Hybrid) in Westchester County, NY for our client. In this role, you will support commercial real estate leasing, landlord-tenant matters, and real estate transactions across a retail and commercial property portfolio. You will manage lease drafting and negotiation, advise on tenant and lease issues, and partner with internal teams and outside counsel on acquisitions, dispositions, financings, bankruptcy matters, and other property-level legal matters.

Responsibilities as the Real Estate Counsel:

  • Leasing & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and retail leasing documents, including leases, amendments, assignments, and related agreements.
  • Lease Advisory Support: Advise internal teams on lease interpretation, tenant defaults, use restrictions, co-tenancy provisions, and other landlord-tenant matters.
  • Bankruptcy & Dispute Support: Manage bankruptcy-related matters and coordinate with outside counsel on disputes and other property-level legal issues.
  • Transactional Support: Support acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures by reviewing documents and assisting with transaction execution.
  • Cross-Functional Legal Guidance: Partner with internal teams to identify legal risks and provide practical business-oriented legal advice.

Qualifications for the Real Estate Counsel:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required.
  • Licensure: Active bar admission in good standing is required.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house setting with a focus on commercial real estate, leasing, and related landlord-tenant matters is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with retail and commercial leasing, lease interpretation, bankruptcy matters, landlord rights, and real estate transactions is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong legal drafting, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and provide practical business-oriented advice are essential.
