Job Overview – MEP Coordinator (Construction):
Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000/year + bonus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Atlantic Group is hiring an MEP Coordinator (Construction) in Philadelphia, PA for our client, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on large commercial and industrial projects. In this on-site role, you will lead MEP coordination, supervise trade partners, resolve field issues, review technical drawings, and support commissioning and quality control. Ideal candidates have extensive MEP coordination experience and strong collaboration with engineers and architects across all project phases.
Responsibilities as the MEP Coordinator (Construction):
- MEP System Coordination: Oversee all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination activities, ensuring alignment between design documents, field conditions, and trade partner installations.
- Technical Review & Problem Solving: Review drawings, BIM models, P&IDs, and specifications to identify conflicts, resolve system issues, and support accurate installation.
- Trade Partner & Stakeholder Management: Lead coordination with MEP subcontractors, engineers, and architects to clarify design intent, address discrepancies, and maintain project standards.
- Field Oversight & Quality Control: Conduct regular site walks to verify installation quality, monitor progress, and support QA/QC procedures across all MEP systems.
- Schedule & Documentation Management: Integrate MEP activities into project schedules while managing RFIs, submittals, testing records, and commissioning support.
Qualifications for the MEP Coordinator (Construction):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field required.
- Experience: 10+ years of MEP coordination experience within commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction environments, with strong field and technical oversight capabilities.
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, AF&IDs, BIM models, and system specifications, with proficiency in BIM coordination tools and construction software preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, installation methods, building codes, commissioning workflows, and trade coordination processes.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
