Atlantic Group is hiring a Legal Secretary in Chester County, PA for our client, providing administrative and legal support across real estate, business law, land use, and litigation matters. This role will prepare legal documents, manage calendars and deadlines, coordinate filings, maintain case and transaction files, and communicate with clients, courts, attorneys, and external parties. The ideal candidate has law firm experience supporting real estate, business, land use, or litigation matters with strong document preparation and organizational skills.
Responsibilities as the Legal Secretary:
- Legal Documentation: Prepare, format, proofread, and edit correspondence, pleadings, agreements, filings, discovery materials, and other legal documents.
- Attorney Support: Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, meetings, hearings, depositions, closings, and other administrative requirements.
- Matter Coordination: Support litigation, business, real estate, and land use matters by organizing documentation, tracking deadlines, and coordinating required activities.
- Legal Filings: Coordinate court filings, electronic submissions, service of process, recordings, and communications with courts and government agencies.
- File Management: Maintain organized electronic and physical matter files while ensuring documents and correspondence are accurately stored and accessible.
- Administrative Operations: Assist with client communications, billing, time entry, expense reporting, and other day-to-day legal administrative functions.
Qualifications for the Legal Secretary:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with additional legal administrative or paralegal education preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of legal secretary or legal administrative experience in a law firm environment is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting real estate, business law, land use, or litigation matters is required, along with knowledge of legal terminology, document preparation, and filing procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic filing or document management systems is required, with iManage, legal practice management software, and court e-filing experience preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong proofreading, document formatting, organization, communication, client service, confidentiality, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple attorneys and competing deadlines are required.
