Job Overview – Legal Counsel:
Step into a pivotal role with our hedge fund client as a Legal Counsel in New York, NY. As a key member of the Legal & Compliance team, you will provide strategic guidance on transactions, lead contract negotiations, and ensure adherence to regulatory compliance. Reporting to the General Counsel, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s legal integrity while managing relationships with suppliers, vendors, and clients.
Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000/year + bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Responsibilities as Legal Counsel:
- Legal Support: Provide comprehensive legal and compliance support for daily transactions, including drafting and reviewing NDAs, regulatory filings, LLC agreements, and other legal documentation.
- Contract Negotiation: Review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts with suppliers, vendors, and clients.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, supporting the preparation and submission of regulatory filings.
- General Counsel Assistance: Assist the General Counsel with strategic initiatives, legal research, and ad hoc tasks as needed.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate them.
Qualifications for Legal Counsel:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required.
- Bar Membership: Active membership in the New York State Bar.
- Experience: 1-3 years of legal and compliance experience in a corporate or law firm setting, with expertise in NDAs, regulatory filings, and contract negotiation.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities, with proven multitasking skills and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
