Atlantic Group is hiring a Leave of Absence Specialist (Temporary) in Boston, MA for our client, supporting leave administration, compliance, HRIS updates, and employee guidance across federal, state, and company programs. This temporary role oversees FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and Massachusetts state leaves while ensuring accurate documentation, secure workflows, reporting, and clear communication. Ideal candidates bring LOA experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Ultimate Software or AbsenceSoft.
Responsibilities as the Leave of Absence Specialist:
- Leave Administration & Compliance: Administer FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and state leave programs, ensure compliance with policies, legal requirements, and CBAs, manage approvals and denials, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Tracking, Monitoring & HRIS Management: Track leave durations, identify issues or trends, update statuses in HRIS systems, maintain secure digital records, and ensure data accuracy across platforms.
- Coordination: Partner with HR, Legal, Payroll, D&I, and external vendors to resolve complex leave matters, support accommodations, and ensure consistent, compliant workflows.
- Employee & Manager Support: Educate employees and managers on leave policies, timelines, and requirements while providing timely, professional guidance and contributing to process improvements and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications for the Leave of Absence Specialist:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of LOA administration with exposure to FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and state leave laws, and experience handling confidential information.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills, with experience in HRIS platforms such as Ultimate Software, UKG, or AbsenceSoft preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Massachusetts leave laws, disability programs, union environments, and leave-tracking/reporting workflows.
- Skills & Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strong communicator who can work independently and support employees with accuracy and empathy.
