Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000/year base ($500,000 – $700,000 All-In)

Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring a General Counsel (Asset Management) in Stamford, CT for our client, supporting corporate legal strategy, SEC reporting, public company governance, and transactional matters. This role serves as the senior legal advisor across the organization, partnering with executive leadership and the Board on legal, regulatory, and business matters. The position focuses on securities law, M&A activity, regulatory oversight, and practical legal guidance within a complex financial services environment.

Responsibilities as the General Counsel (Asset Management):

  • Legal Leadership: Serve as the senior legal advisor to executive leadership on corporate, regulatory, and strategic matters.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Provide legal guidance on securities laws, investment adviser regulations, fund structures, and broker-dealer activities.
  • SEC Reporting: Oversee legal review and support for SEC filings including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and proxy materials.
  • Transaction Support: Lead legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions from structuring through execution.
  • Corporate Governance: Advise on Board matters, governance practices, and public company obligations.

Qualifications for the General Counsel (Asset Management):

  • Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
  • Licensure: Active bar admission in good standing is required.
  • Experience: 12+ years of legal experience is required, including a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting public company legal matters and exposure to investment advisers, funds, or broker-dealer environments is required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of SEC reporting, securities laws, corporate governance, and M&A transaction support is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Excellent judgment, executive presence, and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance are required.
