Job Overview – Fund Controller (Real Estate Funds):
Compensation: $60 – $100/hour
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Fund Controller (Real Estate Funds) in New York, NY with our client. This temporary role oversees financial reporting, treasury operations, compliance, capital accounts, carried interest, loan facilities, and investor reporting. You will also work with business, operations, and finance leaders to ensure accurate fund structures while supporting acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities. Candidates with public accounting backgrounds and private fund expertise are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities as the Fund Controller:
- Fund Reporting: Lead monthly and quarterly reporting, including transactional activity, management fees, carried interest, partner capital reports, and financial statements.
- Treasury Operations: Manage liquidity, cash planning, capital calls, distributions, and vendor payments with accuracy and compliance.
- Loan Portfolio Oversight: Support acquisitions, dispositions, and financing while overseeing loan facilities, draw requests, and compliance monitoring.
- Collaboration: Partner with operations to reconcile loan servicing reports and maintain accurate fund records.
- Performance Measurement: Calculate IRRs, investment multiples, and time-weighted returns to assess fund performance.
- Fund Structures & Agreements: Review partnership agreements and fund documents to validate allocations, fees, and carried interest terms.
Qualifications for the Fund Controller:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Experience: 8-12 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, ideally with Big 4, combined with leadership in private fund accounting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling, with experience in fund accounting systems and reporting tools required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in real estate fund structures, private equity-style accounting, carried interest, and treasury management.
- Skills & Attributes: Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
