Job Overview – Field Service Engineer (Automation & Controls):
Compensation: $118,000 – $130,000/year

Atlantic Group is hiring a Field Service Engineer (Automation & Controls) to join our client in Atlanta, GA. In this hands-on role, you’ll support motion control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation equipment through troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and system upgrades. With up to 70% travel, you’ll work directly with clients nationwide, delivering fast, reliable service and supporting continuous improvement in the field.
Responsibilities as the Field Service Engineer:
- Diagnostics & Repairs: Respond to service requests, troubleshoot automation systems, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs both onsite and remotely.
- Upgrades & Maintenance: Conduct software updates, system modifications, and routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
- Service Documentation: Prepare accurate service reports to support invoicing, cost tracking, and client communication.
- Client Support: Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and promote service solutions.
- Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and company procedures to ensure proper field operations.
- Travel: Travel up to 70%, including overnight, to perform installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting at client sites.
Qualifications for the Field Service Engineer:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years in field service engineering with hands-on experience in motion control, PLCs, automation systems, and industrial machinery.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in motion control systems, IEC 61131 programming, and automation troubleshooting with strong skills in reading schematics, Microsoft Office, and diagnostic tools.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in industries involving electronics, motors, PLCs, or automation control systems strongly preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Customer-focused self-starter with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, clear communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
