Job Overview – Construction Safety Manager:
Take on a pivotal role with our client as a Construction Safety Manager in Washington, DC. This on-site position is designed for a seasoned safety professional with expertise in OSHA compliance, risk mitigation, and safety training across large-scale construction projects. You will lead safety initiatives, enforce regulations, conduct inspections, and foster a culture of safety to ensure all job sites operate with minimal risk.
Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000/year + bonus
Location: Washington, DC
Responsibilities as the Construction Safety Manager:
- Safety Policy Development: Establish, implement, and enforce site-specific safety policies and best practices in compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations.
- Site Safety Inspections: Conduct regular audits and hazard assessments across job sites, ensuring all equipment, tools, and procedures align with safety standards.
- Accident Prevention & Investigation: Lead root-cause analyses of incidents, develop preventive measures, and document corrective actions to minimize future risks.
- Safety Training & Compliance: Facilitate OSHA-mandated training programs, subcontractor safety orientations, and workforce development on site safety procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Maintain detailed safety records, oversee OSHA 300 logs, and ensure job sites meet legal reporting requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response: Implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure workers are prepared for various job site hazards.
Qualifications for the Construction Safety Manager:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certification: OSHA 30 (within the last five years) required; OSHA Trainer, CSP, or CHST certifications are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in construction safety on large-scale sites, with proven leadership in enforcing safety programs.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in OSHA regulations, risk assessment, hazard communication, safety audits, accident investigations, and job hazard analysis.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to train, influence, and enforce safety regulations while managing multiple priorities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to climb 24-ft ladders, stand for long periods, and work on scaffolding, high-rises, and active sites.
