Job Overview – Construction Estimator:
Compensation: $105,000 – $120,000/year + bonus
Location: Richmond, VA

Atlantic Group is hiring a Construction Estimator for our client in Richmond, VA. In this on-site role, you will lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for a variety of high-profile projects across multiple sectors. Prepare detailed cost estimates, collaborate with design teams, and support bid strategies to ensure successful project execution. Work closely with project managers and subcontractors to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for both negotiated and hard-bid projects.

Responsibilities as the Construction Estimator:

  • Project Estimation: Prepare detailed estimates for multifamily, office, retail, and interior fit-out projects.
  • Preconstruction Support: Collaborate with project teams to evaluate cost-saving strategies and constructability during design.
  • Bid Management: Solicit subcontractor bids, perform quantity takeoffs, and ensure comprehensive project scope coverage.
  • Cost Analysis: Develop cost models and analyze historical data to provide value engineering options.
  • Client & Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with clients, architects, and trade partners to clarify scope and refine pricing.

Qualifications for the Construction Estimator:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Estimator with a general contractor, focusing on accurate project cost estimation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, safety standards, and self-performed trades.
  • Skills & Attributes: Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while ensuring accuracy and integrity.
