Job Overview – Construction Estimator:
Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Lead estimating efforts as a Construction Estimator in Philadelphia, PA, with our client’s commercial construction team. You will prepare detailed cost estimates, develop competitive bids, and review plans and specifications for scope and accuracy. This position requires senior-level GC estimating experience, strong client-facing skills, and the ability to manage multiple high-value projects.
Responsibilities as the Construction Estimator:
- Project Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor work on commercial construction projects.
- Bid Preparation: Develop proposals, bid packages, and cost breakdowns to support competitive submissions.
- Plan & Specification Review: Analyze drawings and project documents to assess scope, risks, and opportunities.
- Client & Subcontractor Engagement: Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify requirements and build strong relationships.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate historical data, market trends, and subcontractor pricing to ensure accurate, competitive estimates.
Qualifications for the Construction Estimator:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of estimating experience with a General Contractor, preferably on commercial, healthcare, or institutional projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, Timberline, or similar.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
- Skills & Attributes: Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to interface effectively with clients, and strong leadership or management capabilities.
