Job Overview – Associate General Counsel (Title & Lender Services):
Compensation: $135,000 – $165,000/year + bonus
Location: Delaware County, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring an Associate General Counsel (Title & Lender Services) with our client in Delaware County, PA, to provide legal oversight for residential title insurance transactions and support multi-state underwriting operations. This on-site role is ideal for a JD-qualified attorney with expertise in real estate law, title underwriting, and lender-side settlements. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and regulators to resolve title issues, ensure compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities as the Associate General Counsel (Title & Lender Services):
- Title Underwriting: Assess title risks for residential transactions and offer legal guidance on insurability and closing matters.
- Document Review: Interpret contracts, deeds, and legal documents to ensure compliance with underwriting and legal standards.
- Claims & Escrow Support: Collaborate with escrow officers and underwriters to resolve title issues and support claims handling.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support corporate compliance by interfacing with state regulators and ensuring licensing requirements are met.
- Operational Counsel: Advise internal teams on curing title defects and optimizing settlement processes under underwriting policies.
- Training & Education: Lead internal trainings, contribute to legal publications, and stay active in bar associations and industry events.
Qualifications for the Associate General Counsel (Title & Lender Services):
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
- Licensure: Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania (or eligibility to obtain it promptly).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in title underwriting, real estate law, or within a legal department at a title insurer or related entity.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of real estate title, settlement processes, and title insurance underwriting systems.
- Skills & Attributes: Exceptional negotiation, organizational, and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep knowledge of real estate and title insurance law, including state and federal regulatory standards.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel for company business, industry events, and training.
