Role Overview – Head of Business Development:
Our client, a global equity hedge fund, is seeking an experienced Head of Business Development to lead fundraising efforts for a new fund launch. Reporting to the Partner, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of raising capital from institutional investors, particularly Sovereign Wealth Funds, Consultants, and Family Offices.
Total Compensation: $250,000 – $300,000 base salary + $250,000 – $300,000 bonus (up to $800,000 total for exceptional candidates)
Location/Office Policy: Fairfield County, CT (primarily in-office when not traveling)
Responsibilities of the Head of Business Development include:
• Develop and execute fundraising strategy for new fund launch
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key institutional investors
• Collaborate with the investment team to articulate fund strategy and edge
• Create and deliver compelling marketing materials and presentations
• Manage due diligence process and respond to investor inquiries
• Provide market insights and feedback to inform product development
• Collaborate with operations and legal teams to onboard new investors
• Represent the firm at industry conferences and events
Qualifications of the Head of Business Development include:
• 15-20 years of relevant business development experience, preferably in long-only or concentrated L/S equity strategies
• Proven ability to raise significant capital from institutional investors
• Strong existing relationships with Sovereign Wealth Funds, Consultants, and Family Offices
• Deep understanding of hedge fund strategies, terms, and structures
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel extensively (50%+)
• Team player with entrepreneurial drive and the ability to thrive in a lean organization
• Highest standards of integrity and professionalism
• Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
