Atlantic Group is hiring a Compliance Counsel in Greenwich, CT for our client, supporting legal and regulatory oversight within a credit-focused hedge fund environment. This hybrid role advises portfolio managers and investment teams on MNPI, wall crossings, information barriers, trading restrictions, and SEC regulatory requirements while partnering with senior leadership to manage restricted lists, side letters, and global compliance risk across multi-asset investment strategies.

Responsibilities as the Compliance Counsel (Hedge Fund):

  • MNPI & Information Barrier Oversight: Advise investment teams on material non-public information, wall crossings, and restricted trading protocols.
  • Restricted List & Trading Controls: Maintain restricted lists, monitor investment guidelines, and oversee trading controls across credit strategies.
  • Side Letters & Fund Documentation: Review and interpret side letters, investor agreements, and fund documentation to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Regulatory & Policy Advisory: Interpret SEC and related regulatory requirements and update compliance policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Legal Support for Credit Strategies: Provide legal and compliance guidance on credit transactions, private credit structures, and complex debt instruments.

Qualifications for the Compliance Counsel (Hedge Fund):

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required, along with active bar admission in good standing.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of in-house legal and compliance experience within a hedge fund or alternative asset management firm, with credit strategy exposure strongly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with MNPI protocols, wall crossings, restricted lists, side letters, investment guidelines, and hedge fund regulatory frameworks.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of the Investment Advisers Act, SEC compliance requirements, and global regulatory standards applicable to hedge funds.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with compliance monitoring or restricted list management systems preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strategic, analytical legal professional with strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, investment-driven environment.
