Job Overview – Pathology Medical Transcriptionist (Temporary):

Atlantic Group is hiring a Pathology Medical Transcriptionist (Temporary) in Boston, MA for our client. In this on-site role, you will transcribe pathology reports, accession specimens, update logs, review speech-recognition drafts, and ensure HIPAA and CAP/JCAHO compliance. This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals with strong medical terminology and pathology transcription experience.
Responsibilities as the Pathology Medical Transcriptionist:
- Specimen Accessioning: Accession surgical and consult specimens, ensuring accurate patient identifiers, specimen sites, and referring provider details.
- Transcription Review: Edit and finalize speech-recognition drafts for accuracy, grammar, terminology, and pathology report consistency.
- Quality & Compliance: Proofread reports for errors, verify clinical details with providers, and maintain strict HIPAA, CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and HCFA compliance.
- Record & System Management: Enter finalized reports, manage logs, file slides and requisitions, and process documents through OCHIN and COPATH systems.
- Operational Support: Monitor fax/voicemail queues, compile and distribute report data, and complete required system and compliance trainings.
Qualifications for the Pathology Medical Transcriptionist:
- Education: High school diploma required (postsecondary medical transcription training or an associate’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of medical transcription experience, ideally within a pathology department or clinical laboratory.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of pathology-related medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology with the ability to type 40–50 wpm and proficiency in computers, EMR platforms, and word-processing systems.
- Skills & Attributes: Excellent grammar and proofreading skills, strong attention to detail, ability to work accurately under tight deadlines, and commitment to maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
