Job Overview – Director of Payroll Operations (Temp to Perm):

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Director of Payroll Operations (Temp to Perm) in Boston, MA with our client. In this hybrid role, you will oversee enterprise payroll strategy, optimize ADP and Kronos systems, manage compliance and audits, and lead payroll operations across a large multi-site organization. Strong expertise in ADP HRMS and Kronos Time & Attendance is required.
Responsibilities as the Director of Payroll Operations:
- Payroll Strategy & Compliance: Lead payroll operations strategy, ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations, and oversee internal/external audits.
- Systems & Process Optimization: Manage and enhance ADP HRMS and Kronos systems, develop payroll/HRIS policies, and drive workflow and process improvements.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage payroll staff while establishing performance standards, development plans, and departmental goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and site leaders to align payroll practices, resolve issues, and support organizational initiatives.
- Vendor & Regulatory Coordination: Oversee vendor relationships, manage agency interactions (DOL, unemployment, disability, workers’ comp), and resolve payroll-related banking issues.
Qualifications for the Director of Payroll Operations:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Experience: 7-10 years of progressive payroll operations leadership in a large, automated, multi-site environment, with healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in ADP HRMS and Kronos Scheduling/Time Entry, with strong knowledge of payroll’s impact on the general ledger and financial reporting.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State payroll regulations, reporting requirements, and compliance frameworks.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communicator and collaborative leader with excellent interpersonal skills, strong organization, and a commitment to accuracy and process improvement.
