Job Overview – Animal Care Technician:
Become a vital member of our client’s team in Van Buren County, MI as a Laboratory Animal Technician. Your primary responsibility will be to provide daily husbandry care to research animals, ensuring their health and well-being. This role requires adherence to departmental standard operating procedures, state and federal regulations, and accrediting agency guidelines.
Location: Van Buren County, MI
Compensation: $19/hour
Responsibilities as the Animal Care Technician:
- Provide daily care for laboratory animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring health.
- Administer medications and perform treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
- Assist in animal restraint techniques during procedures to ensure safety for both the animals and staff.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and observations.
- Implement aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Support veterinary critical care as needed, including monitoring vital signs and responding to emergencies.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians in performing animal catheterization when required.
- Assist with front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries related to animal care.
Qualifications for the Animal Care Technician:
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a team, and excellent communication skills.
