Job Overview – Heavy Highway Construction Estimator:

Atlantic Group is hiring a Heavy Highway Construction Estimator for our client in Philadelphia, PA, to lead cost estimating for large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects. Evaluate plans, specifications, labor, materials, and equipment needs, and prepare competitive bids. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to align estimates with scope, schedule, and budget. Ideal for candidates experienced in estimating bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, and other heavy civil structures.
Responsibilities as the Heavy Highway Construction Estimator:
- Project Estimation: Review plans, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy highway and infrastructure projects.
- Scope Analysis: Assess materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor needs for bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, sound walls, pile driving, and box culverts.
- Bid Preparation: Develop detailed bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation to meet client and agency requirements.
- Vendor Coordination: Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitive pricing.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineers, project managers, and field teams to align estimates with design, budget, and construction strategies.
Qualifications for the Heavy Highway Construction Estimator:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of estimating experience in heavy highway or civil infrastructure projects, including bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, pile driving, and box culverts.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of DOT specifications, construction sequencing, and heavy civil project requirements.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills with keen attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
